Jewellery Care
Bronze and silver are living materials: they oxidize, darken, and change with the skin that wears them. Below is the short version; the full guide is available as a PDF.
Materials
Our jewellery is cast by hand in Italy, in bronze and silver. Bronze is an alloy of 90% copper and 10% tin. Every piece is free of nickel, to prevent allergic reactions as far as possible.
Depending on the pH of your skin, silver and especially bronze may leave a dark or greenish mark. It washes off easily and is not an allergic reaction.
Cleaning
Use a soft cloth with a metal polish for bronze or silver. Then wash the piece with dish detergent or a mild, unscented soap and cold water, and rinse off any residue.
Bronze can also be left in lemon juice for a few minutes before rinsing.
Open rings
Many of our rings have an opening at the front and can be adjusted to fit. This does not mean one size fits all.
Never pull the ring open or pinch it closed without the proper sizing tool inserted into the band — it will be damaged. When putting the ring on or taking it off, turn it sideways and move slowly.
Avoid
Perfume, creams and strong detergents. Pearls are particularly delicate and are damaged by all three.
Jewellery is delicate and can bend or break. Most damage can be repaired: write to us before attempting anything yourself.
